Therapeutic Orchids Fragrance is a celebration of the magnificence, aroma and therapeutic qualities of the thousands of orchid varieties of Asia.
Just like the rest of Asia, Singapore also has amazing Native Orchids, many of them Therapeutic. Our fragrance has these as well as several other medicinal orchids of Asia.
Before the advent of allopathic medicine, all humans depended on plants and other natural materials to manage pain, trauma and diseases.
Asian herbal medicine regularly use orchids to nourish or to heal. Turkish people use Salep derived from terrestrial Mediterranean orchids. China has a well-documented and the long history of orchids in medicinal use. Indian Ayurvedic medicine also use Orchids to a great extend. Orchids constitute 4 out of 8 items in the Asthvargha. "Sanjeevani", the herb that Hanuman got to cure Lakshmana is also an Orchid.
After 2nd world war scientists have been conducting an extensive search for alkaloids in plants and 1750 orchid species were found to be beneficial. There are extensive publications on phytochemicals from orchids, particularly from Gastrodia elata, Dendrobium spp. and Bletilla striata.
China has invested lot of resources in the last three decades to study, traditional Chinese medicine. As a result, CTM is witnessing an interphase between tradition and science. Several traditional medicinal orchids have since been shown to contain compounds with wide range of pharmacological effects.
Some compounds are ugood for brain cells, while a few act against malaria parasites. Orchid extracts have shown to protect the skin and liver. There are alkaloids in Orchids that kill cancer cells.
We have accululated data from these published papers and found lot of fragrant Orchids that we could use in our perfumery. These Therapeutic Orchids scented notes have been made part of the scent.
