We created this smell so you can take freshness of Singapore back to your home. The Singapore shores, where lions once, roamed as seen by Sri Sang Nila Uttama and the beautiful green that he would have smelled.
Singapore back then was covered in dense tropical rainforests and mangrove forests. Over the years they have disappeared and made ways for modern civilization. This made several endemic plant species endangered.
Today the last remaining traces of these forests are protected in 3000 hectares of reserves. The mangrove forests have also been affected because of land reclamation and the construction of reservoirs but small patches have been preserved on the main island and on some of the smaller islands.
For visitors to Singapore, a visit into its natural reserves or a walk on one of its beaches is a must do! It will leave them with a sense of the freshness and aromas of the wood, trees, flower and the sea.
The night walk will also allow you to experience the scent of Night Orchids, the most species in Singapore. Night Orchids have no scent during the day, and turn on their perfumes when it’s dark. White flowers stand out at night making the walk even more magical.
Your Gift Wrap is inspired by The William Farquhar Collection. During British Settlement, Mr Farquhar documented flora and fauna of Singapore as they would have been when Sri Sang Nila Uttama landed on this green island. He also used to work in late evenings to avoid the hot sun... hence this is also our vision of the scent he would come across during his walks.
